Gian Maria Morlaiter
Moses

1748-50
Church of Santa Maria del Rosario ("The Gesuati"), Venice

Morlaiter includes the three main attributes of Moses: the horns (in this case, rather stubby little things), the two tablets of the Law, and the rod with which he made water pour from a rock while in the desert. (The water gushes out at his feet.) As in most late-medieval and later images, Moses' beard is distinctly forked.
